This week I choose to write a poem that I also used in our poetry slam.

STEREOTYPES

Why should we be put into categories

Because you just cant stand for people you think are different to be in your social grouping

There are jocks, nerds, preps, cheerleaders, Goths, and just about anything you can think of, its there

But how do you know where you go? You dont its them that decide for you

You dont like where you are deal with it

If your a jock you cant be a nerd, If your a goth you cant be a prep, If your already classified then you cant be anything else

Who put the people in charge of doing these classifications? NO ONE

They are already in charge by default

If you want to be in charge, to bad,

If your not already in the lead then you never will be

Deal with what you are and try to move up but you will never be in the lead unless you were born there

If you dont know who the position setters are just look around you you will find them

I agree with you full heartedly about this. absolutely detest labels and hate it even more when people try to put me in stereotypes. Fortunately, I have avoided stereotypes by mingling with all types of people. I know that it doesn’t work all the time, but it doesn’t hurt to try. Right? It’s a great poem.

I think that alot of your poem is true but you should be more positive about it.

I think this poem is a very good poem. What I like about this poem is that it talks about a very real/interesting topic that every one has to deal with in life.you are so absolutely right about all the things you said in this poem
