Molly was your average nerd. Big glasses, pimples and everything else. She didn’t have very many friends to surround her with glory but her dad always made her feel special. Molly always felt lonely and her dad was worried for her. Everyday when Molly came home from school he noticed that she was either crying, bruised or just plain sad. He decided to bond with her and go on a fishing trip with her at his favorite lake. 

So on a 3-day weekend as soon as she came he told her to pack a bag and that they were going some where special. Molly was surprised but did as she told. They got in the car for the 4 hour drive to the lake. On the way he told her what he planned to accomplish on the fishing trip. Molly seemed pretty enthusiastic about the idea to go fishing. They finally arrived and they set up to fish. They stayed up fishing for about 2 hours because it was already late when they got there. Neither one of them caught anything but they decided if they got an early start they would get some.

Early the next morning they got up around 7:00 in morning to see if they could get even more fish. By 1:00 when they ate lunch Molly’s dad had caught 5 fish and Molly had none. She wasn’t discouraged so she just kept on trying. They were fishing until about 8:00, Molly’s dad had caught 6 more fish and Molly still had none. This got her very discouraged but she remembered she still had one more day left there and that she could catch fish. On their last day at the lake Molly didn’t catch anything but her dad caught 3 more. As they were packing up Molly tried one more time and just when she put the line in the water she felt a pull. She pulled on the line and called her dad and he helped her pull the line back in. It was two fish. One black the other white and they were sparkling. The most beautiful fish Molly had ever seen. Molly asked her dad if she could keep them as her pets and he said yes.

When she brung them home she put them in a big basin for their tank and went to buy food. After she feed the fish she went to bed. In the middle of the night she woke up and went to get a glass of water. As she went back to bed she saw a glow coming from the basin where the fish were. They started to rise and they were speaking.

“Molly” saidthe black one ” we have are going to give you unlimited wishes but use them wisely”

“If you choose to use them the wrong way then we will not respond correctly” said the white fish.

“I wish I were popular and pretty” Molly wished.

When she didn’t feel anything she went back to sleep. In the morning Molly looked in the mirror and saw no pimples, no glasses and nothing else. She thought she was pretty. When she got to school no one recognized her at all until she said her name. After school she had so much homework that she just wished the fish to do it for her. Molly kept making pointless wishes like that. Soon just like the fish had said her wishes started getting messed up. When she wished for an A on a test she would get a D. Molly got confused and told her dad. He told her that she  should let the fish go but first make everything back to normal. Molly did what her dad said.

The next day everything went back normal and the fish were in the lake. Molly decides to go talk to the “cool” kids. When she says her name is Molly they start talking to her and they become pretty good friends.

My role in this group is a writter.

I mostly read books that look intersting and like they have a good unpredictable plot. Mostly youngadult fiction. Those books though once you read it and get about half way through then you can tell what will happen at the end. I also have to say what ssues I’m in interested in around the world and I think Global Warming is a big one because it’s October and it is still 80 degrees outside. Another one is the fact that we are in a drought! Nobody seems to know a lot about it because people are still using water like it doesnt matter at all and there will be an endless supply. We need to gather awareness so we can put off no water as long as possible. My favorite types of writing assignmentsare probably essays because to me they are easy to write especially if I have a topic.

In chapter 5 Kino sees Juana taking the pearl and going to the beach so he follows her. Just as she is about to thrw the pearl into the water he stops her, takes the pearl, and puches her and kicks her then leaves. On his way home people attack him, and take the pearl. He kills one of them and gets knocked unconscious. Juana finds the pearl on her way home and gives it to Kino. They decide to leave because to many people want the pearl. When they get home they see their house is on fire and since every one thinks they are dead they go hide in Juan Tomas house until Apolonia sees them and tells Juan Tomas. He helps them escape.

In chapter 6 Kino, Juana, Coyotito escape their home and start going north. They see trackers and hide. Kino says that if they go into the mountains they can distract them from their trail. When they get a good ways up they see the trackers have still followed them. Kino makes a new trail again to divert them. At night Kino sees an opportunity to help them and he tries to kill one of the trackers but then Coyotito cries. One of the trackers shoots in that direction and kills him. Kino stabs him then takes the rifle and kills them both. Juana comes down the hill with Coyotito’s body and they go back to town. They walk straight past everyone that is looking and to the ocean. They throw the pearl and watch the sunset where it sank.

The book is like an article we read in class that talked about unfortunate lottery winners. When Kino found the pearl he started to think so much of it and plan many things. That like the winners because they were doing so much when they didn’t even have the money. Kino had faced many problems because o the pearl like murder, arson and losing his own child. This is also like the lottery winners because they lost so many things because of money like friends, family and even houses by not being carefeul with what they had.

In the Lottery it talks about eight lucky people that won the lottery and have gone completly bankrupt. they win a lot, over $1 million, and  they go crazy with the money and lose all of it or they are left with under $1000. They say its becvause when they suddenly get a lot of money then they don’t know what to do with it and thats true because that is how they all go broke. This relates to the book because in the book the family doesn’t have a lot of money so the doctor turns them away. This relates to the lottery winnings because they can afford to blow all of their money on little stupid stuff while others can’t even afford to pay for a doctor.
